Our contribution covers German localization and 2D art. The newspaper pages shown here combine language, design, and technical implementation and represent one part of the ongoing work.

LOCALIZATION WITH CONTEXT

More than translation: when language becomes part of the game world

Good localization conveys more than words: it preserves meaning, context, and tone. The in-game newspapers show how language shapes atmosphere and perspective.

Language in a military context

Military reports, maneuvers, and systems require precise terminology and a tone appropriate to the situation. We regularly review terminology and usage with active and former members of the Bundeswehr, including people with experience in the German Navy. This does not constitute official involvement or approval by the Bundeswehr.

Media with distinct perspectives

A West German tabloid and a state-influenced East German newspaper require distinct editorial and visual styles. Typography, headlines, imagery, and tone reflect perspectives within the game world—not the political position of Polybyte Labs.
